4Fantastic Tablet
By M. MacGowan
This is my first tablet, and I have found it to be extremely useful and user friendly. The only negatives about it that come to mind are that I cannot print from it (it only prints to Samsung printers) and secondly, the speaker volume isn't very loud. However, the sound quality through good headphones is quite nice. Ir's very fast and responsive, and the picture quality is outstanding, with deep vibrant colors and great contrast. As other reviews have gone into serious depth concerning multitudinous aspects of this tablet, I will just conclude with saying that I have really enjoyed it and I have no serious complaints. If you're looking for a reasonably priced tablet with a big beautiful screen and lots of useful features, this one will do nicely.

5Nearly perfect tablet out of the box and it only gets better with use
By L. Anderson
This is an amazing tablet and worthy of all the praise the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 has received and then some. I purchased it several months ago and it 'just works' as I expect, and I keep discovering new features. Highly recommended.

Pros:
1) Beautiful screen display. Not Retina perhaps, but still blows almost everything else away. I have used for PDF, eBooks, MOOC online video lectures, YouTube & Vimeo video, and Skype video chats.
2) Extremely intuitive and simple to configure and connect WiFi access. Easy access disable or enable WiFi.
3) I keep mine plugged in most of the time, but never had a problem with battery life off-line. Can watch entire movie off power. I was paranoid initially of running out of juice, but this turned out to be a non-issue. If you have concerns, suggest turning off WiFi when not using and manually turning down screen brightness.
4) Free YouTube and Vimeo apps make full screen video playback simple (Downloadable from Google Play)
5) Good audio quality for its small size. Recommend ear phones if in a noisy area or need full freq. however.
6) Amazingly accurate speech recognition works in any text field that you can use a keyboard in (just hit the 'microphone' button left of the spacebar on the virtual keyboard)
7) Built in video editor (honestly have not played much with that, but find it pretty interesting in this form factor.
8) Easy to exchange files with Windows 7 PC via USB without using special software (although there is a Kies software, I did not hear much good about it)-- just make sure to set the Tablet to 'camera mode' or you will not see both internal and SD card contents in your PC file browser. IIRC, XP may not have the proper driver.
9) Skype works well over WiFi. Family member used in hospital with WiFi and it provided an easy way to visit with distant family. Again, battery life is quite good for this form factor considering all that is going on with video chat.
10) All major web browsers are available: Opera my favorite stability wise, then Firefox and Chrome (Firefox seems to crash if I open a dozen tabs or so however)
11) Integrates well with Google calendar and mail.
12) Two cameras - front and rear facing. IIRC, the former is higher quality (because it is used for video chatting). The rear facing camera (used for still and video photography is adequate but not outstanding.

Cons:
1) Not really a con, but could be a bit larger: Someday, someone will make an 8.5 x 11" (or A4 paper size) tablet to properly replace paper, but for now 10" is nearly good enough and PDF's are easy to read. Recommend purchase of RepliGo PDF reader (no affiliation with me) for serious PDF book reading etc. Larger PDF files can become difficult to navigate or unstable with free PDF readers.
2) Charging socket and earphone plug socket are on opposite long sides of the tablet. If tablet is plugged into charger (and you are not using the optional docking station), you will have trouble just tilting the tablet up unless you rotate the screen because a plug may interfere with the table or your lap. However, you can't do this for the both the charger and earphone plug because they are on bottom and top side respectively. If you are just using one or the other, you can simply rotate the tablet screen so the protruding plug is up and away from the edge you are resting it on. This could be solved by putting all peripheral connections on one edge (there may be some good internal reasons not doing this however).
3) USB charging cable is VERY short (less than 3 feet). This may be considered a feature (less cord to tangle), but I recommend buying a USB extension if you want to use it plugged in around the house.
4) If non-YouTube or non-Vimeo flash is important to you, it may be worth googling compatibility. I don't have any problem with any sites or video (I use for online MOOC's like Coursera and Udacity which work great).

Recommended accessories:
1) 32Gb micro SD card (standard size will not fit) especially if you plan to download video lectures.
2) Samsung USB connector adapter -- this allows simple connection of any USB external keyboard (true plug and play) or (reportedly, I have not tried yet) external flash drive for an additional data transfer option
3) A good PDF reader app (about $3) as mentioned above
4) Consider some kind of stand or charge docking station (I consider the factory docking station overpriced and have not purchased it)
5) Consider the adapter to output to HDTV. I bought one but have not yet tried because my current TVs do not have HDTV input. (Yea, I know, but they won't quit and I don't want to contribute to a landfill!)

SUMMARY

A really excellent tablet, designed with user experience foremost. I continue to be pleasantly and consistently surprised by this device (Since Jan 2013 updateable online to Android 4.1.1)
