4Hard to beat
By N. Kyer
Let me just start off and say that this tablet is definately going to be hard to beat. I have been on mine non stop for 2 days now and am finding more and more things I like every hour. Lets start with the tablet itself. It has some texture on the back so you feel like it wont slip out of my hands like the smooth Ipads do. The tablet is lighter than Ipads too but feels very solid to me. The screen looks great from almost any angle you can think of. I am typing this from the keyboard dock that came with it, with no problems at all. I think i have normal sized hands for a man thats not overweight and have no problems typing smooth and fast. I find that when typing long messages like this, its best to disable the mouse pad to keep from accidently starting something you didnt want to. Its an easy button to toggle just about the 5 key. The keyboard also has a 10 hour battery on it too. When docked, it looks like the tablet battery is actually being charged from the keyboard battery ensuring that the tablet battery gets the benefit of being charged the most. I like the fact that there are stereo speakers on each side of the tablet when holding it in landscape mode. The keyboard is heavy enough that the tablet doesnt feel like it wants to tip over backwards like the asus tablets feel like they do. The dock has 2 full sized usb ports and an sd card slot. All must haves for me when looking for a tablet. It also has HDMI out on the tablet for connecting to my HD tv. Another must have. I think so far my only fault with this tablet is that it didnt ship with Jelly Bean. It comes with Ice Creame Sandwhich. Which is still awesome. So far everything runs fast and smooth. If you are looking for a tablet and want more bang for your buck, I would definately give this one a try. The Keyboard is what makes this hybrid so fantastic. The extra hundrend bucks you spend will be totally worth it. Great for the business traveler on the go or the techy that wants lots of bells and whistles. It has it all!!

UPDATE

Here is an update. I still love the tablet and keyboard, BUT....My keyboard is now no longer holding a charge. I called Lenovo about getting a replacement for it. They ask for my serial number and when I give it to them, they say that it is not in there system..When did that become my problem?? Lenovo is refusing to send me a replacement keyboard for the defective one. I am not happy. I have documents to prove I purchased it, an order number and packaging from Lenovo. Very disappointed in their customer service. Thank God I bought through Amazon. They are sending me a whole new replacement unit w keyboard. Even though the tablet is great, I will not buy anything from Lenovo ever again. Their customer service is horrible, rude, and impossible to deal with. Amazon's customer service??? Ya they rock.

5Really fast, super light and thin... Great!
By D. Crain
This is a first impression review of the 32GB model. I waited a month to get this from Lenovo, and was pretty psyched to have a new tablet. I've been a solid user of the great and unbreakable Motorola Xoom for the past year and half. Its been rock solid, totally reliable, and great to use. It actually has Jelly Bean on it, and gets used every day. I've had no complaints about the Xoom's functionality, especially since Ice Cream Sandwich. I've always struggled with the goofy charger, as I travel quite a bit on business, and I always had to bring an extra charger with me, which seemed silly.

As a point of note, I cycled through many first gen tablets, including Asus, Toshiba (what were they thinking) and Acer, before getting the Xoom.

But (there's always a but), I've been watching with anticipation, the latest generation of Android tablets hit the streets to see if something tickled my fancy. The Xoom was a first gen tablet, and the true second gen Android hardware is getting downright thin, light and FAST!! So while I've loved the Motorola, I couldn't resist trying something new, especially if it had the possibility of USB charging.

I looked at the whole spectrum of new hardware, and was about to buy the Toshiba Excite, but it had a slightly cheesy feel to it, a slight cheapness that is hard to describe. Plus, the geniuses at Toshiba have confused everyone by building 2 different Excite models, that seem almost the same, but aren't, and its simply bizarre to figure out what to buy. Plus, while it has USB charging, the cable is as think as a phone pole, and has a simply gigantic connector to the tablet. I've played with the newest Acers, and was underwhelmed by the fancy screens, as well as the weight and speed. The Motorola Xyboard (e.g. Xoom 2) is nice, but its ridiculously expensive for no apparent reason, and can't seem to be bought anywhere except Motorola's website. The Asus just didn't grab me either. I figured if I would impulse buy a new tablet (which of course I didn't really need), I would go for the lightest, fastest one I could find for the price, but it HAD TO have USB charging so I could use my universal travel charger with it.

When I saw this new Lenovo posted on Lenovo's website, it was intriguing, and I figured I had nothing to lose by giving it a shot. Seems a zillion other people thought so also, as it took nearly 5 weeks to get. But boy it is terrific! Here's the rub...

This thing is light. And I mean it FEELS light in my hand. The Xoom feels downright blubbery compared to the Lenovo (which is silly, as the Xoom is fine)

It is thin, and I mean really thin. My wife remarked "Wow, it looks like a piece of cardboard". The thinness and light weight really give it a nice feel in my hands.

It feels like Lenovo quality. Face it, Lenovo builds solid bricks. I've cycled through zillions of laptops in my life, every major brand (and minor brand), and I've come full circle back to a Thinkpad because you can't break them. This tablet feels like that (I know, I know, even though its a .3 inch piece of glass). The metal back feels awesome when you hold it. Not slippery, just solid.

The screen is vibrant. The colors pop, and the contrast is quite good. Personally, I simply cannot tell the difference between a regular tablet screen on a quality tablet, and the super fancy 1080p screens.... In this size, they all look the same to me. But the S2110 screen is bright, well defined, and clear.

It is FAST!! Makes the Xoom feel downright sluggish (which is was becoming anyway, as I had tons of software on it). The S2110 pops, response time is just awesome. Navigating the bloaty Android environment is snappy, as are all the other apps I've tried. Its just really fast. It changes my view of Android

There is Bloatware. Which I hate.... The despicable and repulsive Norton security comes on it, which almost made me gag (they've destroyed Windows for years, now coming to an Android device near you). But fortunately in ICS, you can "freeze" apps (which uses the system to disable them. There was some other Bloatware, including Lenovo's own useless App store, which I disabled. One thing about the Xoom, is that the Motorola base build of ICS, and now Jelly Bean is plain, and has zero bloatware.

All in all, this thing is just an awesome upgrade, to an already solid tablet. It may be the best of the current crop of multi core, fast ICS tablets.

Final note: I did get this unit with the keyboard. I like it a lot, but the trackpad came DOA, so I'll exchange it. Its really nice to be able to type on real keys, and I'm sure it will be even better if the pointing device would work. As its a tablet, I just use my finger instead. The keyboard dock is Lenovo solid also, its not really that light, and could probably be a jackstand for a small pickup truck in a pinch. The combined tablet/keyboard could be a real substitute for light laptop use in a business environment.

UPDATE: October 14th 2012

Been using this unit every day since I've bought it and I like it more and more. There was just a firmware update which seemed to improve the keyboard dock a bit, and the whole unit feels pretty snappy. I use this in both a business and personal setting, and its just good at everything I use it for,

It is not a windows laptop replacement, but is used for a good portion of my day to day tasks. It is a unique device, and EVERYONE comments on how cool and interesting it is. There are plenty of internet whiners and experts who nit pick about all sorts of little tiny things, but personally, I have no idea what they're talking about.

Battery life is fantastic, the tablet charges off the keyboard/base until its drained. The keyboard action is vintage Lenovo, which means its great. The tablet portion is awesome, light, thin and totally usable....I'm a kindle user and its the perfect device for kindle software.

All in all, this is a total sleeper.....an awesome tablet combo unit that is good at almost everything. Android 4 is fine for nearly all tasks. Its a bit deceiving sometimes as it can be used for nearly everything, but is still a portable device oriented OS...not windows or ios. Overall, this is just a great device, and highly recommended.

3Lenovo Idea S2110 Tablet 10.1-Inch 16 GB Tablet with Keyboard
By jajwarehouse
At first glance, the Lenovo Idea S2110 Tablet 10.1-Inch 16 GB Tablet with Keyboard seems to be a very nice system, however several issues soon present themselves. The biggest issue I have is that contrary to the product description, the tablet does not have GPS or a SIM card slot. It does have the hole where the card slot should be, but there are no components inside of it. According to Lenovo's documentation for the tablet, which is itself deficient in many ways, the GPS is only available in the 3G models, and since this tablet does not have the SIM slot I am assuming it is not a 3G model, however there is no documented way to tell for sure, that I have been able to find. Whenever I try to use any type of GPS application, it tells me the GPS is not enabled and takes me to the settings screen to enable it, but there is nothing for GPS in there. I also have problems with screen taps, touchpad clicks, as well as USB mouse clicks not registering with the system in various applications and locations. I am not certain if this is an issue with this particular tablet or with the ICS os. One other issue, although this one is minor to me, is the Lenovo Shop application has no items at all. I most likely would not have acquired any items from there, anyway, but it was a little annoyance having a totally useless application installed on the system which I have to go remove.

The performance of the tablet is top notch, although it does have some screen pauses at times when playing videos or games. Also, many times it will exit an application and go back to the home screen. I did not buy this to be a camera, but I decided to check it out, anyway. Both the front and rear cameras are very grainy, and flash does not work even when it is set to always use it. I found the keyboard is very nicely sized and works well even with my large hands. I have no trouble with accidentally hitting the touchpad while typing, but if I did it is easily disabled by pressing the key right above the number 5.
